This is a competition to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child The European Commission has launched a poster competition to mark the 20th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The aim of the competition is raise awareness among young people of their rights.
The competition is open to young people aged 10 to 18.
Children and teenagers wishing to take part in the competition are asked to design a poster (in A2 format) illustrating one of the rights enshrined in the Convention.
Participants will be divided into two age groups (10-14 and 15-18) and will have to work in groups with a minimum of four members under the supervision of an adult. The entries will be judged first at national level and prizes will be awarded to the three best teams in each age category during ceremonies to be held in their home country at the beginning of April 2010.
The winners of the first prize in the national competitions will compete in a second round at European level. The three top teams in each age group will be invited to visit Brussels from 8 to 10 May 2010, for a memorable weekend and a tour of the European institutions, as well as to attend a European award ceremony.
