Greenhills Art Exhibition
Posted on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010
This project was undertaken by the 2009/10 PLC Art/Craft/Design & Portfolio Preparation students at Greenhills College. The students engaged with the process of what is involved in organising an exhibition at an outside venue. They liaised with their local community and collaborated with each other and their tutors to advertise the exhibition and present their artwork. Each student presented 2 pieces of work from their painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture modules and were mindful of putting on a show that consisted of varied and diverse artwork.
The one year course is designed to give students the skills necessary to develop a creative approach to art making. Students are encouraged to develop personal ideas through drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture/3d studies, design and visual notebooks. One of the main goals of the Art Department is to encourage students to progress to further education in third level colleges through the Higher Education Links Scheme and we actively facilitate them to complete a substantial portfolio of varied artwork which will give them the opportunity to attend colleges such as NCAD, iadt, Dit and Ballyfermot should they wish to do so.
Anyone wishing to sign up for the Art/Craft/Design & Portfolio Preparation Course for next September can either call in to the college and meet with Aisling McGovern or Roger O’Neill or alternatively contact Greenhills College at 4507779. Visit their website: www.greenhillscollege.ie
