Celebration of St. Kevin’s Collaborative Arts Project on January 30th 2010 at RUA RED

On January 30, 2010 young people from the Irish Wheelchair Association Youth Service and the Tallaghtfornia Foroige Club will feature the art work they have been making with video and performance artist Aileen Lambert. Funded through the Arts Council’s Artist in the Community Scheme, managed by CREATE, this project is the culmination of a year and a half’s work between the two youth groups, both based in St. Kevin’s Family Resource Centre in Tallaght, which has been leading the project.

The young people first came together early last year to decide which artists and art forms they would like to work with. They worked with CROI GLAN Integrated Dance Company in summer 2009 and performed a choreographed piece in the Civic Theatre. Since October 2009 they have been working on several video pieces with Aileen Lambert.

This project is supported and funded by the Department of Social and Family Affairs, the Arts Council Ireland, CREATE, South Dublin County Council’s Arts Office, St. Kevin’s Family Resource Centre, Tallaght Youth Service and Foroige, and the Irish Wheelchair Association.

Their work, which challenges notions of disability among young people, will be featured at RUA RED in the performance space. Please contact Victoria at 0860479535 for more information.
