Do Look Now

Young people from the Irish Wheelchair Association and theTallaghtfornia Foroige Club supported by Tallaght Youth Service who both share meeting space in St. Kevin’s Family Resource Centre have joined together to participate in an arts project.
A panel of young people from each group met with different artists to decide what kind of art project they would like to do. The decision was quickly made that they would work with artist Aileen Lambert on a video and performance art piece.
BUT, at the meeting, they so enjoyed their workshop with CROI GLAN Integrated Dance Company based in Cork, it was decided they would work with them too!
The two groups came together with CROI GLAN to create an incredible dance performance in July 2009.
The groups worked with CROI GLAN on Saturday, July 25th at Brookfield Youth and Community Centre to choreograph a dance piece that was performed at the Civic Theatre on Sunday, July 26th. The piece, entitled ‘Do Look Now’, brought the young people together in a participatory form of dance that encouraged trust and self-expression.
The documentary shown here tells the story of that weekend and the amazing dance performance that the young people developed together with CROI GLAN.
The project was funded and supported by the Department of Social and Family Affairs, St. Kevin’s Family Resource Centre, Foroige, Tallaght Youth Service, the Irish Wheelchair Association, South Dublin County Council’s Arts Office, the Arts Council and the Civic Theatre, Tallaght.
