Tandem Felix

Over the past few years, the Lucan alternative rock band, Tandem Felix has grown to become the more comfortable group that the members had set out to achieve. In the beginning, they utilized a grit-ridden punk rock ethic to their more instrumental based songs, none of which ever saw the light of day outside the rehearsal room. Songs were written and progress was made but nothing was ever achieved in the early days with this style. As the months went on, the band’s pieces began to fall into their necessary spots. The first ground-breaker was the composition of the song “Eighty Four” in a session in preparation for a concert. Studio time was booked and a debut 3 song demo was passed around the Lucan music circuit to be heard with some great reviews. The band was compared to the likes of “Nirvana”, “The Cure” and early punk orientated “R.E.M” which was taken as complete terms of endearment.
When the band returned to the studio, they planned to record three more songs to add to their first demo, to make an EP. In doing so the band set out to record three of their oldest songs, songs which as said before “never got to see the light of day”. The second ray of light the band received happened two weeks before this recording session had started. What had started off as nothing more than a spontaneous improvisation turned into, what by most people is regarded as the band’s finest piece, the song “At the Water’s Edge”. With this stroke of luck, the band recorded their second demo with two of their older songs and this brand new composition. The demo was added to the first demo to complete what is now known as “The Limitations of the Senses”. Later the band would use studio time won in a competition to record a final song which would then be added to the already finished EP.
The band did a few radio sessions with these songs and started making videos that were widely viewed from their YouTube channel making them the most viewed band in Ireland for several weeks. These videos included song promos and live videos from some of the member’s houses. From their experience with this, they set out to make a DVD entitled “Greyscale” to promote their most recent EP . Entitled “All of the Firemen in France”, the EP is of a different mood to the gloomier slow paced first EP. The songs range in age from back to when they started out as a band to only a few weeks before the recording sessions started and with their more psychedelic mellow feel, the songs display the band at a style that they are more happy with than they have ever been. With the induction of a second guitarist the band are gearing up to use the next few years to push themselves forward in the Dublin music scene.
