South Dublin Music Video Collective

Posted on Thursday, May 28th, 2009

The groups met and looked at their favourite music videos, analysing how they were made and what ideas they visually represented about the music. Olivia Fitzsimons worked with Rock School students and Tallaght Young Filmmakers on generating ideas for music videos based on some of the Rock School band\'s songs. Members of the Rock School and Tallaght Young Filmmakers work on a music video idea together.

In February 2009, young people from South Dublin Rock School and Tallaght Young Filmmakers met and developed an idea to form a Music Video Collective. The two groups are currently looking for some support funding to pilot some initial music videos. Tallaght Young Filmmakers hope to expand their knowledge of filmmaking and peer mentor students of the Rock School to learn more about film and camera work. Members of the Rock School are looking for new skills and a better understanding of how to visually represent their bands and their music. The overall goal of the project is to provide new supports for young artists to work together within South Dublin County. You can see a documentary video of their initial meeting and proposals for working together here, courtesy of filmmaker Olivia Fitzsimons.

Tallaght Young Filmmakers was initiated with generous support from the Arts Council’s Young Ensembles Scheme and South Dublin County Council. South Dublin Rock School is supported by Alternative Entertainments.
