Comhairle na nÓg Logo Competition 2008

Posted on Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Comhairle na nÓg is a youth council which gives the young people of South Dublin County a voice on issues that affect their daily lives. The members of Comhairle na nÓg pass on the views and concerns of young people from across South Dublin County to the decision makers in both local and national government. This competition was open to all students, in second level schools and youth organisations, to design a new logo for Comhairle na nÓg.

First Prize, “Boy holding world on his head” by Shannon Corcoran, Nicole Cullen, Jessica Egan, Killinarden Community School. The Youth Council supports the community, therefore the logo shows a youth holding up South Dublin County.

Second Prize, “Shield with hands” by Valentinas Paulauskas, Deansrath Community College. The logo represents friendship, relationship and power of human beings.
Third Prize, “Tree” by Sean Nolan, Templeogue College. The tree stands for both Comhairle na nÓg and the community. The twenty six branches symbolize twenty six councillors and young people. The sun is viewed as a common goal spread through the branches and the surrounding area

Runner Up, “Hands Meeting” by Adam Gibson
Runner up, Igor Popenko, Comhairle na nÓg sign
Runners up Leigh Callery Ryan Woodley. The design depicts young people supporting the Council.
